Everyone knows that there is strength in numbers. In joining the Ontario Maple Syrup Producers Association (OMSPA) you add your voice to over 400 dedicated Ontario maple syrup producers in lobbying government and agencies on issues that matter to maples syrup producers. Whether you have 10 taps or 10,000, the Ontario Maple Syrup Producers Association is an organization that helps you with your sugarmaking operation.

Your maple syrup business (or passion) gets a free listing on the OMSPA web site, 4 issues a year of the Ontario Maple MAINLINE (an informative newsletter that shares technical and maple forest information), a membership certificate for display in your place of business, samples of newly released promotional materials, and an option to subscribe to the Maple Digest, a great maple research information booklet published 4 times a year by the North American Maple Syrup Council.

You will also receive a complete "Best Practices Manual" documenting the most recent information on every step of the sugar making process. When a producer has a question on the production of maple syrup, the Best Practices Manual should be a first point of reference in answering that question. The manual also includes a self-assessment feature that allows a producer to evaluate their facilities and production practices. This information is updated and revisions provided to members each year as new research is released and new practices recommended by OMSPA are incorporated into the manual. There are very few complete resource materials available in print form for maple producers and your membership to OMSPA includes a copy of one of the best available.

The Association also holds an annual "Summer Tour" each July, in rotating locations throughout Ontario; a 2 day event of educational seminars, trade shows, and tours to actual sugarbushes to see other producers operations and learn about new techniques and gain new ideas. It is a great networking venue and lots of fun! Each Local chapter also holds an annual "Information Day" each January or February near you which offers topics of interest to producers and maple enthusiasts in a relaxed workshop setting. Local chapters also will also host additional events throughout the year.

Members also have access to the OMSPA "Maple Promotional Store" where producers can obtain educational, technical, and promotional material to support your maple syrup business activities.
